MILFORD - Trained volunteers of the Rappahannock United Way will provide tax return preparation services at Caroline High School on dates in February, March, and April. The free service, available for families whose annual earnings are $50,000 or less, will be provided 5-8 p.m. Feb. 1, March 1 and 29, and April 5.
Appointments are not required. People who would like to avail themselves of the service should bring all necessary information and documentation, including driver's license or a photo identification cards, W2 and other forms, Social Security cards for the taxpayer and all dependents, and more. Spouses must be present if filing jointly.
The Rappahannock United Way organizes and trains volunteers to provide the service. Volunteers serve under the guidance of IRS-certified staff and other volunteers. During the 2011 tax season, volunteers filed 902 tax returns in Planning District 16 with the total refunds for these individuals and families amounting to $1.18 million.
