RUTHER GLEN - Children's author Herman Parish will visit The Carmel School Feb. 3, an appearance that is open to the public. Parish is the author of a series of children's books featuring the character Amelia Bedelia.
His aunt, Peggy Parish, created the character in 1963. Since her death in 1988, Parish has added 23 books to the series, three of which became national bestsellers. He also added books that tell the stories of Amelia Bedelia as a literal young girl.
Parish will visit children in Pre-K through grade two starting at 9 a.m. and those in grade three and higher at 1 p.m. His books will be available for sale, and Parish also will sign autographs.
There is a $2 admission charge. To reserve a seat, visit https://sites.google.com/a/thecarmelschool.org/library-media-center.
The Carmel School is located at 9020 Jericho Road. For more information, e-mail school librarian Shannon Flater at sflater@thecarmelschool.org.
